FELICITY-2K1

The institute celebrated its very own cultural festival “FELICITY-2k1” for the first time.This was aimed at promoting the spirit of unity and camaraderie amongst the students and also for promoting interaction with the other institutes. This festival was of three day duration starting from the 5th of October. The event was formally inaugurated by Professor Rajeev Sangal (Dean academics- IIIT).

There were a number of competitions each day in various fields like the arts, dramatics, music, dance, public speaking, etc. Besides these, there were many on the spot events for the visiting crowd.

There were also special evening events such as the Dandia Night hosted by Kishore Parmar on the first evening, the Fashion Show and the Rock Show on day two and then the DJ Night on the final day, when the DJ Piyush Bajaj made the crowd dance to his tunes continuously for almost eight hours.

There was hectic activity in the institute with almost every student busy in trying to make FELICITY a success.Though everything was organised in just fifteen days, the students managed to rope in a number of sponsors like Compaq, A.P. Aids Control Society, Apollo Hospitals, Neoveda etc. Invitations were sent to various institutes in the twin cities. Due to lack of time, colleges from outside the city were not invited. There were many stalls set up by the students and outsiders. THey included mostly food and games stalls and a few stalls set up bt the sopnsors to display their products.

Though the weather played a spoil sport in some of our major events, it did not dampen the spirit of the students who came in from almost all the colleges in the twin cities. The event was success and emore than that, it was a learning experience for the students teaching them precious skills for organising events of this magnitude.

There are plans to organise FELICITY on a much larger scale this year and we hope to have participants from all over the country.
